Happy happy happy!
The basic 9 patches have been painted. A couple have value tweaks yet to do.
I'm leaning toward assembly like the mock up from my last post.
and wondering how to incorporate the resist circles from the thumb tacks!

Targets

Finding time this Thanksgiving weekend after eating and festivities and shopping to get back to fabric and dye/paint.
Doing leads to more doing and more ideas.
What started to be more fabric for graduated cording morphed into circles rather than lines.
Then targets.
Then barrels.
All pre-gutta wash out...

It's been a funny week...
And I offer here PSA #1 (Public Service Announcement)::::
Inspect your 27 year old wooden ladders well - for they may have hidden cracks that throw well-intentioned hubby's to the floor and break their arms. :-(
And PSA #2 :
Take care of your friends well - for they may volunteer (okay - I'm still astounded by that one) to do emergency taxi-service and nurse duty for outpatient surgery if you're scheduled to travel.
Yep - unbelievably hubby kicked me out of the house (not really - just told me to NOT cancel plans) while he recovered. "You don't need to sit around and watch me sleep". And our good friends took over the patient duties.
Because, I was tour guide and scheduled to rendezvous with family members from 4 cities here
for this event .
I am thankful for unselfish hubby and friends that enabled these travel plans to continue. (And happy Anniversary to us - 26 years yesterday)
(P.S. And I'm grateful for eternal nudgings from financial gurus Susie Orman and Dave Ramsey for having an emergency cu$hion in place for those unexpected happenings!!)

Not that you needed to know...
Feeling nostalgic today...reminiscing about time spent in Rio de Janeiro (just over 30 years ago)
Google maps lets me peer in - to see if I recognize anything!!
The apartment building where we lived in Ipanema - now sporting security gating - something I see all over the city. The restaurant next door brightly painted - used to be Trattoria Torna and white - now???
And a daily view down the beach a block and a half away. I'd run/walk the length of this with my Dad in the mornings before school. In the distance the mountain forms - Dois Irmaos and Pedra da Gavea (the flat topped one that was across from my school)
Ahhhh - mosaic sidewalks along the beach - this is Ipanema's pattern. Copacabana's was more wavelike.

And it was a delight!!!
Yep - working at the QBU bookstall at the World Quilt Show was a delight! (pic to follow of Cathy's Team QBU)
Lots of people to chat with and Ooh and Aah over the quilty books and quilts and goodies...
I had a chance early Saturday to view the quilts on display before the crowds - a treat to view unjostled. I took very few photos - using my time to look at the quilts "live" rather than capture to fuzzy photo!!
From the UK - Pat Archibold's 'The Journey' (presented with better photos on her website http://www.patarchibold.com/) simply glowed against the black drapes.
Now here's a detail of 'Deep Bali, Into the Gamelan's Sound' by Yoshiko Miyamoto, Japan--- gorgeous! (couldn't find a website for this quilt artist)

Here's the whole quilt
This is Germany's Bernadette Mayer with Poppy Meadow - color color color and the perfect pop of green in the sashing...
And overall Best in Show is Mark Sherman's 'Tree of Life ' - wonderful pictures at his site http://www.remarkablequilts.com/

I'll be working at the show :-) World Quilt Show Florida http://www.quiltfest.com/
Cathy from QBU (Quilt Books Unlimited) waved her virtual hand for help vending at the show - and I responded.
So Lucky Me gets to be surrounded by all things books and fabric and stitch for 3 days.
Stop by and say HI!!!

Dalek to r2 one third
And a bag evolves...
I'm one third of the way along with this lark of a project. The bag outside is set and now to do the inside and handles. Perhaps something fun with the bottom too....

Sometimes you feel like a nut....
I had one of these touristy souvenir , wooden nut bowls hanging about, as you do. (Ignore the dalek, he's mostly harmless

HAIR, I thought (not the musical

And so resulted the reversible pincushion, batik style, with Shoot-Me-Now edging.
