Mother's Day stitching detail

Mother's Day stitching detail, originally uploaded by jckirner.

I've noticed I work more freely with snippets, leftovers, and deconstructed inner pieces of items. On mother's day I spent a chunk of time playing with a $3 bag of batik strip scraps.

Color combinations at play - and the idea of stitch as a color wash over a pattern.

Rulers abandoned for free cutting with the rotary cutter to give less uniform lines.

A total delight to create - and am loving the texture of the densely stitched piece onto the batting sandwich. Almost the feel of stitched felt.
