Labor Day Thrift Share

Design Sweden folk art candle holder

Don't you love how each thrift shop has it's own personality? Not only in how the items are presented, but a pricing personality too.

When you find a multitude of fun things under 50 cents at one shop, they'll be $1-$2 and up at another thrift.

Pyrex Correlle Sunshine cups
I struggle to leave behind lovely items when the price is too much. (Unless I'm going to use them myself!)

Pendelfin Twins figurine
Although sometimes I just have to pickup items that "feel right" despite the cost!!
Then comes research time...

Blue's Clues toy, Georges Briard glasses, Cape Cod souvenir plate
I've just discovered Corelle Corner as a resource for pyrex pattern identification. There's probably more sites out there - this one is working for me at the moment.

It's Labor Day in the US. Traditionally a barbecue with family and friends occasion. We're keeping it low key with an at home day.

I had to laugh at Late Night Coffee's reseller's post today - item #10 - take a break. It's easy for 24/7 addiction to this business! I'm guilty of that some days - to the suffering of my creative pursuits. (Dang car payment - that was the catalyst for my focus on the selling side of thrift!!)

Still - it's all enjoyable - despite the need for some uhhhhh ...boundaries... to the efforts!!

Linking in today (hopefully)...

  2. The Pendelfin figure is adorable! I have not seen that Pyrex pattern before; it's very cheerful.

I know what you mean about different thrifts having different pricing and personalities. Sometimes I'll find an item and wish it had been priced by another thrift.

I liked the tips at Late Night Coffee, too. I need to get going and get some things listed and out of my house.

  4. Love the candle holder, but then I am quite partial to everything Scandinavian :-)

I just found a new thriftstore where the prices are crazy low, and they don't care what the heck they are selling as long as everything sells. I walked out with several Denby plates for $0.25 a piece last week. I love Goodwill though and the selections here in Maine are pretty good - but they definitely like to up-price the items they think are fancy-schmancy ;-)

I also found some goodies over the Labour Day weekend and have just posted them.

    BTW, love your blog.
